Stump Grinding in Sacramento

A leftover stump takes up usable yard, gets in the way of mowing, and blocks whatever you wanted to do with that corner. Timberland Tree Service grinds stumps on residential and commercial properties across Sacramento and the surrounding areas, then cleans up the work area before we leave.

What stump grinding involves

A stump grinder uses a rotating cutting wheel to work the stump down into chips, from the top down and outward through the surface roots. It's the least disruptive way to deal with a stump because there's no need to excavate the root plate.

  • Grinding the stump below the surface
  • Grinding problem surface roots
  • Grinding immediately after a removal
  • Multiple stumps in one visit
  • Residential yards and commercial grounds
  • Work area cleaned up when finished

How deep should a stump be ground?

That depends entirely on what you're planning for the spot. Putting grass back over it is a different depth than planting a new tree or pouring concrete. Tell us your plan when we come out for the estimate and we'll grind for that plan rather than guessing.

Before grinding, it matters what's near the stump — irrigation lines, landscape lighting, and utilities all sit shallow. Point out anything you know about and we'll work around it.

Grinding after a tree removal

Most of our grinding work happens right after a tree removal. If you know you want the stump gone too, mention it when you request your estimate and we'll include it in the same price so there's no second trip.
